PERSON-CENTERED APPROACH
Jade Enhanced Support Services utilizes a Person-centered approach to services. A person-centered approach is where the person is placed at the center of the service and their ideas for how they want services are highly valued. The focus is on the individual and their abilities, not their disability. Supports are tailored to the individuals’ personal wants, needs and aspirations.
WHAT IS A PERSON-CENTERED APPROACH
-
Incorporates flexible services and support to suit the person’s priorities
-
Supports the person, at the ‘center of the service’, to be involved in making decisions about his/her life
-
Focuses on strengths and acknowledges the person as experts in their life with an emphasis on what they can do and later any areas of support.
-
Considers each person’s life experience, age, gender, culture, heritage, language, beliefs and identity when providing support.
-
Includes the person’s support networks as partners.
